Betty's Bobbin Box
is a fitting name for our family-owned business that brims
with sewing machines, fabrics, patterns, notions, classes, and
the largest supply of sewing and quilting books in West Texas. Our owner,
Betty Reneau, is a self taught seamstress who worked for
another sewing machine company for 12 years. She opened
Betty's Bobbin Box in Odessa, Texas in 1991.

The idea to open our
store came after she purchased a New Home Memory Craft
7000 sewing machine. "I thought if I liked it that well,
someone else would also," she says. More than
sixteen
years later, we still exclusively carry the Janome line
of sewing machines.
The on-going plan
that has become our cornerstone is to keep our store
unique, primarily through offering "the cream of the
crop" sewing classes. Currently offered is a plethora of
classes, ranging from beginning sewing and
dressmaking to more specialized classes, such as
quilting, heirloom sewing, wearable art, automatic
embroidery, and a multitude
of other classes. |
We are extremely
fortunate to have a staff of top notch instructors conducting
our classes. We stress classes on all new techniques, as well
as instructional classes for those who purchase machines.
Students may bring their own sewing machines or they are
welcome to use the machines we provide.
We keep up to date on
the latest technology in sewing machines and notions by
attending quilt markets, craft markets, and the Janome
Institute. For the past sixteen years we have attended the
Janome Institute to learn all the new things pertinent to the
sewing industry.
Betty's hosts celebrity speakers and classes
every year. We specialize in
cotton quilting fabric, specialty needles, and a large supply
of decorative threads. We continue to expand
with new inventory to give teachers and
students better equipped classrooms.
