Merci le Vie is a study in applique. Applique is not just satin stitch. There are many many stitches to be "auditioned" and we will give you some ideas. With nine blocks, Merci la Vie is a precious quilt that leaves plenty of places for you to be creative. We'll guide you in directions that you may have never experienced before. The lady who designed this quilt, Anne Sutton, says This quilt is a celebration of life, and I hope you love making it. It's a testament to women everywhere and a salute to those who have fought breast cancer. Merci la Vie! The blocks are also perfect for mini quilts Finished Quilt 70 x 72.

PhD
Are you working on your PhD (projects half done?) If so, then bring them to Betty's and we'll sew all day! You can bring a lunch or plan to run out for something; it's up to you, but we'll have fun just being together and having fun sewing on whatever we choose. We'll be here to help if need be and, of course, there will be snacks!

If you like heart designs, you are going to love this quilt! Each quilt block features a heart made using different heirloom techniques. Bias shaping, pintucks, shark's teeth diamonds, ribbon crazy patch, cathedral windows, bridging, spaghetti bias shaping, shaped puffing and beginning heirloom techniques are all included. Several of the blocks have beautiful machine embroidery, too. Traditional strip sashing connects the blocks, and the quilt is bound with a narrow mitered binding. This lovely design will make a perfect gift for all ages. The quilt finishes at approximately 37 inches square. These items are not included in the kit, but if you have had my heirloom classes previously, you may already have some of these things.. You will need: Embroidery thread colors pale yellow, pastel mauve, medium ecru, baby blue, light orchid, and white. You will also need a pintuck foot, open-toe foot, temporary fabric marker, 1/2" bias tape maker, small applique scissors, point turner, Whimsy or Tiger tape, glue pen, bodkin, water soluble stabilizer, lightweight tear-away stabilizer and lightweight batting, 40" sq. All of these notions will be available if you need them. You will need a sewing machine with some decorative stitches, (pinstitch) and, of course, the embroidery machines will be set up for you on the blocks that require embroidery. Please bring a USB stick if you would like to have the designs......you will want them! This class is taught by a licensed Martha Pullen Heirloom Teacher.

Online Class Registration
Now you can register for our classes and events ONLINE! As we begin this process, please be patient while we work out any communication mis-haps between our in-store registration and the new online option.

From the calendar or class list, click on the class you would like to attend.  Click “Add to Cart” button and proceed to check out just like you do from our online store for fabric, notions, and kits.

Alongside this new option, we’ve updated our cancellation/no show policy. Please keep in mind that if you are unable to attend a class or event for which you have already registered, you will need to contact us ASAP for a full refund.  If it is less than 48hrs before the start of the class, you will be entitled to a half-refund.  This is to ensure we will have time to contact those on the waiting list.  However, if it is less than 24 hrs before the start of class or you fail to show up without providing notice, you will forfeit the half refund.

We know this will require a little more future planning on your part, but we feel this is necessary to ensure the most people are able to participate in their favorite classes and events.  There is considerable planning and preparation that goes into each one of our classes and we always want to provide you with quality educational experiences.

We are here to support you and answer your questions!  Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
